Blog of the Week – Google Blogoscoped

June 29th, 2006

Every week I’ll blog about another blog that I read and would reccomend to you for a number of reasons that I’ll state. Hope you enjoy the links.

Google Blogoscoped

On being directed to this famous blog via Cow’s Blog a few days ago, I’ve taken an interest in the author’s writings and musings. My enthusiasm was especially catapulted on download and reading of a book called “55 Ways to Have Fun With Google” which is both enlightening and humourus at the same time. The author, Philipp Lenssen, mostly covers that evil company we refer to as Google and also other search engines, web technology and on rare occasions topics that have nothing to do with any of those mentioned above. His posts are factual, entertaining and well written. New posts can be read almost every day so you’ll never run out of Google news – like you would anyway. For in-depth reviews on Google’s latest spawns and other technologies, this should be in your RSS feed list. Thank you Cow for introducing me to another great blog. Check it out.

Code Monkey Refreshment

June 29th, 2006

I’ve not updated over the past days because there’s nothing I knew about that I felt was actually worth mentioning. But, here’s something that any developer will like.

‘Code Monkey’ by Jonathan Coulton is a song we can all relate to. Go over to his page and check out the lyrics and also listen to it here – I’ve uploaded it especially for you (which was surprisingly fast thanks to NTL :D ).

Nintendo Wii Size Comparisons

June 24th, 2006

A Nintendo fan(atic) has built a Nintendo Wii mockup out of card and taken photos against other Nintendo and non-Nintendo products so we can get a glimpse of it’s size. If the comparison chart that Joystiq posted on wasn’t exciting enough, we can really see how small the Nintendo Wii – there will be no Nintendo Wii Lite this time.

Via Joystiq, which is via DigitalBattle which orginated from GameFAQs; some of the photos are below.

Opera on Nintendo DS

June 23rd, 2006

As Opera has been announced to provide the internet browsing capabilities for both the Nintendo DS and the Nintendo Wii (formerly Nintendo Revolution), I was slightly less than optimistic because my experience with the Opera web browser has been less than comfortable. In an earlier blog post I mentioned this news and my opinion:

I thought this logical as Opera already have experience in mobile version. But Opera on the Wii? I would have preferred a Gecko browser, such as Mozilla Firefox or something based on the Firefox web browser. But, I suppose it doesn’t really matter.

An Opera fanatic, Jon, has managed to test Opera for the Nintendo DS on his blog and posted a review. From what he says in his review, I’m beginning to think that it may not be that bad to have Opera for web browsing on the DS and the Wii. Check out his blog and the review. If you have a Nintendo DS (bulky or lite) then when it arrives in good olde Europe, I reccomend you buy the cartridge.

If anyone does get it, let me know via a comment or e-mail.
