Welcome to the summer, we got fun and games...

It's the Summer time once more and the last year of mandatory schooling follows. I've got a few projects to keep me going through the summer, another week away with only my laptop and the flight simulator and hopefully the first of two Evolution meetups. I'm awaiting a reply from the Coca-Cola company on my mission but if I don't get a reply from them, I'm laying hope on my local corner shops and supermarkets and my contacts within them. I'm sure they won't miss a few hundred bottles of Coca-Cola ;).

Anyway, today the Shuttle is going to attempt another launch since it tried over a week ago but had a few problems with a fuel-level indicator. So far, engineers haven't been able to recreate the problem and therefore have not been able to fix it but I hope the launch goes ahead. You can view the man mission page here - it's set to launch in just over 2 and a half hours around 2:40pm so tune in to NASA TV at 2:15 to catch it all.

Now I must go and calculate what time I have left to fester about, abnormaly still and silent about.

Your Help. My Mission. London's Joy.

Maybe the timespans I specified in my last post were a little bit overboard. But, here's my first cry for help from you.

Dear loyal fans, visitors and religious followers, I'm writing this week to employ your charity in helping me bring joy, happiness and sunshine to the people of London this summer holiday. My mission is to re-enact the latest Coca-Cola advertising campaign and walk around London giving passers by a free bottle of Coca-Cola. Now, this is where I need your help.

I'm reaching out to you for support. Support that is dearly needed and dearly welcomed in whatever shape or form. As you can see, at the bottom of this post, and to the right, there is a donation button. Help me share the ecstasy that Coca-Cola brings by donating as much, or as little, as you'd like or can afford to my cause.

I've recently started communications with Coca-Cola Great Britain, who coincidently, are based in London. Hopefully, they will also help me on my quest to spread joy around London. I hope they'll be able to provide the Coca-Cola.

What am I going to do with your donations, you ask? Well, I'm going to buy with them a huge cool bag to transport the Coca-Cola and also a vehicle to transport the cool bags around. Also, a 70's radio will be bought along with the track from the advertisements on television. Please donate generously to this worthy cause. I believe that my mission will help those in London who need cheering up.

If you can't donate money, why not contact me via e-mail if you have any of the items below and are willing to come along with me or are willing to lend me them. Please email me at cokegiveaway@gmail.com.

<> Digital Camera
<> [or] Camcorder
<> 70's style radio
<> Sacktruck
<> Willie Nelson - Bring me Sunshine [Amazon]

If you just want to come with me, email me and I may reveal my route to you. Please, donate what you can, if you can. Thank you very much - I'll update you on everything soon.

You can view the advertisement in question here: http://www.visit4info.com/details.cfm?adid=22446. Thanks for your support and thanks for all those who take their time to read my blog. Please pass this post onto your friends!

Later on next week, I'll be revealing more details, step-by-step including tube stations I will be using and my route on foot. Keep looking right here!!

I will say that if my mission doesn't go ahead, I will refund all donations and items to the person they were sent from. Thankyou and God bless. Please leave feedback.

Sunny - May peace, love and Coca-Cola enthrill you all.

Work Experience

I'm here at Research Machines for my second day of Work Experience. Only 8 more to go. I'm enjoying it so far and have been made to feel very welcome (no, I'm not being forced to write this). I've met another boy doing work experience here who came from a school in Wantage. He's working in the computer factory over the road (literally) and also doing some work with computer parts.

As I write this it's my lunch break, so I can't type for long. Yesturday I reviewed 2 of their new sites that are coming out. It was quite enjoyable and it was yesturday that the internet filter (like the one at school) is quite slack and pretty much lets you go on any site you want (except Hotmail).

The RM office network is one of the best I've seen yet. Everything is linked. You can check each other's calendar, email each other, check who's in and where and when they last exited or entered. It's all intertwined and everything can be done electronically. For example, you can fill in an e-form if you want to ask for some leave. Administrators even give out praise to people on their system. The RM intranet is a wonderful think that's set up and, get this, actually works! (*cough* school network *cough*).

Well lads, I have to go. I've been forced to help Americans. Yes, that's right. I'm gunna have to give myself 50 lashes for what I do here on in! I'm helping the Americans!

The Winds of Change

"Treat all disasters as if they were trivialities but never treat a triviality as if it were a disaster."

Welcome, one and all, to another installment, all be it an installment exhumed by tragic atrocities. The world over has been told of terrorist attacks in England's capital city, London. I will begin this post with a small story of my today and then move on to other items later.

I was walking down my school corridors, getting as far away from my Spanish room as I could. I saw a fried and he stopped me, and said: "You heard about London?". I looked at him strange and replied with "Yeah, everyone has. Great, isn't it!". At this time I didn't know about the London bombings - I thought he got the news about the London 2012 Olympic bid late. I reluctantly walked into my English class, the conversation forgotten, and sat down. My mate said: "You heard about London?". I thought this rather odd and said back: "The Olympics was decided yestur-". I was stopped in my tracks by what he said next: "No - the bombs in London. On the tubes". What! Then my English teacher told us the latest news and it hit home what I must have said in that first conversation made me look really stupid and harsh. I watched as some of my classmates went to telephone their parents and came back, expressionless and uninterested in the current lesson; understandable. I had feelings of anger, rage, hope and I felt curious about what happened and wanted to get home. It was that point I remembered the exact point I learnt about the 9/11 attacks - and I got the same feelings. I'm just thankfull that it's not as bad as 9/11 or the Madrid train bombings. What can we do to ensure these people get properly punished? Well, I have very strong views about this, and I'm not going to go into them. Let's do what we can - the show must go on.

Well, as I hinted, London won the 2012 Olympic Games (XXX Olympiad) - and I'm damn proud that we did. I've always wanted the Olympics to come here, and now they are coming! I've already volunteered to help in 2012 and will be so proud if I'm chosen to help. And, ofcourse, I'm delighted that we beat the French because of what Jacques Chirac said about Britian when he didn't know the microphones were on - he got his just deserts (a big helping of humble pie).

I have my work experience next week. I'm really looking forward to gaining new skills and working with other people on a wide variety of things, even if it is filing - it's still an experience and how some start out. 1 more day of school to go. It's gone mighty fast; too fast in my opinion.

Project Capaz is going swimmingly. If you know where to find it, please go ahead and look at the design and the steady development of it over the coming months. Also, I'd apreciate a constructively criticized review of the design. Thanks in advance.

Untitled Banter

Project Capaz - Learn. Do. Recieve.
I have another project in the pipeline after searching through the sea of folders on my home PC. Recently, I've had a few graphics card problems with my desktop PC and had neglected it for my laptop. After taking off my install of Linux (Ubuntu) and restoring my original setup of hard disk space, I decided to do a little updating. After running Windows Update, other updating software I had a look around.

I thought of Project Capaz around 3 months ago, and as usual, never finished it. My other current project is 'DirDetective', but because of some troubles regarding XMLHTTPRequest technology, it cannot be continued, for now. Anyway, as you can guess by the logo, Project Capaz is a hub for teenage developers such as myself. The site will enable people/organisations and projects to post open positions on the website and allow people to apply for the position. It will also allow the new generation of developers valuable links and offers that could help them become the best they could become. The members will take on a variety of projects to enable them to gain experience and enable them to experience the ever-expanding world of internet technologies and find themselves as quality developers.

My World - Perception at its best...
I'm sorry that it's been a very long time since my last post. I won't make excuses for myself. The popularity statistics for computer programming languages have been released for June. You can find them here. It shows that PHP is steadily losing pace and that SQL is on its way down. Why? A new generation of developers brings a new generation of skills and likes. A lot has happened to me since my last post. I'm nearing my work experience at a world-wide computer firm, RM (Research Machines) in 10 days time. I'm really looking forward to it and believe it will teach me valuable skills. I've been told that because of what they know of me, they're considering offering me a job. Whether this is true, I don't know. If it is, it's a serious thought and one that could ultimately change my life. I'm not the best developer in the world, nor in my country, not even in my town - but working at RM would be a brilliant career experience for anyone, how ever 'good' they are. I would have liked to have gone to my old Primary School for the second week of my work experience, but I left it too late. No need to cry over spilt milk, I suppose. My fondness for astrology has tempted me to purchase a quality telescope. I know a friend who works for a Scottish company offering £350 telescopes at less than £100 because they have too much; I may consider.

Since I wrote my last post, I was involved in the Formula Schools project at my school. Myself and a mate developed the website for the team which nearly won the award for 'Best Website'. Even though we didn't come close to beating other schools at race day, we felt pride in our car and had all contributed to it. The latest news about the results can be found at the website above. A new site is already being developed for next year's race day, and a new, totally from scratch, car is being built aswell - with 4-wheel drive! I'll keep you posted on the progress.
