Another Revolution?

I'm a big fan of the Nintendo Corporation and my love of computer/video games started with the Sega Mega Drive. I remember the first game I got for the SMD - Sonic the Hedgehog. A colour television, 2 hours or Sonic and a free Saturday afternoon. Those were the good days of Primary school. Since then, Sega have been virtually non-existant in the home games console market and, for a while, Nintendo ruled supreme. The Gameboy came, the playstation ruled, the Gameboy Color made an appearence, the Gameboy Advance showed its face, the Playstation 2 popped in for a visit, the Gameboy Advance SP did a touch-and-go on the handheld runway, the Xbox crashed the party and the Nintendo DS touched the surface. 2006 and 2007 will be one of the best 2 years of console gaming - a revolution, you could say, in the gaming world.

I'm not going to talk about the next Playstation, the Playstation 3, or the next console from Microsoft. This post is all about the Nintendo Revolution - due sometime middle/late 2006. This console is what Nintendo hopes will make up for the dismall failing of the Nintendo GameCube, of which I own. Why did the GameCube fail? For one, it could not compete with the functionality of the other consoles that came out just after the GameCube; the PS2 and the Xbox. The Nintendo Revolution is being kept underwraps by the Nintendo Corp., for now. From what details have been released I can say this:

  • It'll play games from Nintendo Consoles from the past 20 years

  • It'll be able to play DVD's and CD-R's etc.

  • The console will be WiFi ready

  • It will use the WiFi ability to communicate with the Nintendo DS

  • It'll have 512MB of flash memory

  • SD memory card slot

  • 2 USB 2.0 ports for future accessories

  • It will be the smallest home console out of the 3 majors

  • Default wireless controllers

And much, much more. More details have yet to be released such as the colours it'll come in and the price of it. It's estimated that at the time of release it'll cost between £120 and £210 - but you can't put a price on excellence.

Before the image of the console was released, here's what people thought it would look like:

And here is the prototype. The final version will be smaller:

Madness

However good a song is, it doesn't matter. It's all to do with a countries political stance and how close they are to each other. This really annoys me because it's not a song contest anymore; it's a political party conference with a live band.

What has the UK done in the last year (since the last contest) to upset other countries. We haven't invaded another country, have we? No. The only countries to give the United Kingdom points were Ireland, of course, and Cyprus. We only got those points because Ireland is next to us and because we have military bases on Cyprus. Javine's song was easily in the top 15, and yet, because our country actually does something to help the world, we get penalised. Also, take a look at the scorecard here and look at the last 4 countries. It's quite amazing how the biggest, four most western countries who contribute the most money to the ESC come last. Just a coincidence? No. I think a rule should be introduced that you can't vote for any adjoining countries, as well as your own. This would go some way to solving this country-friendship problem.

On a lighter note, Greece, the bookies' favourite won the competition and the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 will be held in Athens next year. See you there. Oh, I think my post on last years ESC is still on here. Check it out. :).

A time for tears, for laughter.

Hokey. The football match between Manchester United and Arsenal was not an ordinary football match. It was the FA Cup final and both clubs were out for revenge, even though none of them said that. As you probably already know, after 90 minutes it was a nil - nil match. After 30 minutes of extra time, still no goal. The only option left? Penalty shoot-out: the first ever in an FA Cup final match. Unfortunatly, Paul S's penalty was saved by the german keeper and Man U had lost the Cup. My own opinion is that Man U were the strongest team in the game and should have won. But they didn't and it's now over. There's always next time... I have one thing to add though. I think there should be a limit on the amount of foreign (i.e. not of British nationality) players in each team. 50/50 should be the limit, in my opinion. What's yours?

Moving on from the tears part, the 50th Eurovision Song Contest in on tonight. I'm going to be recording the web stream for later use and also watching it on the TV. It's going to be a good competition and hopefully the UK can regain its reputation back after Gemini's awful performance (if you can go that far and say 'performance'). Here's my pick of the countries that I think have a really good chance.

BelgiumFinland
HungaryLatvia
United Kingdom
IsrealNorway

So, there are my predictions of the 7 top acts. Watch it tonight! Even though some acts are good, it won't matter. Eurovision is just a place where political reputations are said, but said as votes.

Eurovision - Semi Final

I have just one thing to say:

Eurovision is a prime example of why the English language should be confined to the West.

Personalities & Landscaping

Hi again. I'm writing this post from my backgarden - a fitting setting for something I'm going to talk about later on in this thrilling installment. In this post I want to talk about people's personalities on and off the internet.

First, let's take an example; me. I, I think, have 2 or 3 personalities. Please read on so you do not think that I have MPD. What I'm talking about is our behavior on and off the internet. My behaviors are different on the internet, off the internet and when I'm just relaxing with my parents or around the house. When I'm on the internet, I feel I can let myself go a bit and be a bit more flamboyant than I am say at school or in a social environment. On the internet, as some of you know, I like to cause a little trouble where needed but I also like to make a name for myself, as most people do. The internet, for me, is somewhere where i can be different, but not too different. My second personality comes into effect at school. At school I tend to be the quiet type that and some people have said that I seem too layed back - as in I let things pass by without joining in. That's probably true, but school for me is 95% learning and 5% fun - this is especially evident in my Spanish class. I know we all (yes, that includes you) crave for the end of school and the school holidays but what would your life be without it? Anyway, moving on from that, I think that I am quite diluted at school and tend not to express myself, as much as I do on the net. On the internet I can be a lot more personal, and can do this without thinking about the consequences or being beaten up... I hope. My 3rd personality is when I'm just 'normal' at home with my parents or just relaxing around the house. Here, I'm much much more relaxed and much more open and vocal - as most of us are. I'm a lot more caring as well, for my dogs, cat and my gerbils that were left in the greenhouse and died a Southern Fried death. How many 'personalities' have you got? Why aren't you the same person at all times? Have a think, leave a comment.

Now onto the second theme of my post. Landscaping. Today, when I was going through all the old .net CD's I had, the odd Hear'Say albumn and an old Packard Bell CD collection I found a 3D landscaping tool from around 1998 - you couldn't really 3D in those days, to be honest. Anyway, what a time because before that I had just constructed a 6 piece folding patio set and my parents were on a about doing up the garden. So since then I've been constructing my house, garden and garage on this software and using it to place the plants, shrubs and furniture that they wanted. It's really quite good, If I do say so myself. I always like designing things and this is pretty good. I might post some screenshots if you're nice and donate money to a charitable cause: I suggest neonDragon ;).

Up and Running

Hello again. Well this is the first normal post after my updates on the design side of this blog. I hope you like the design; it's only a minor addition to a template kindly provided my Blogger. First things first, if you're feeling kind I would really apreciate a link to my blog on your blog and/or personal website - I'd be willing to make the same gesture here in return.

Moving on, Cow has apparently 'refound' blogging and has a new blog which I may link shortly from the right-hand side there. My blog is both a personal and business (even though the early posts are mostly childish, silly rants about my hates and my problems) but Cow's new blog is mostly, or all, going to be devoted to his personal life - rants and all :).

On other news, I've been chosen to take a trial period as being a prefect for my school - something I've thought about for a while now. I always said I was perfect... anyway, enough of the don't-work puns. I'm looking forward to it :).

Just a quick plug now, for a few of my distant friends' friends. If you want a PSP and don't mind waiting, oh and don't mind departing with £8 of your hard earned pocket money, sign up at www.psp4free.co.uk. I've read the terms and conditions and the FAQ and it is not a scam. And, come one, it's only £8. No skin off your nose really. Anyway, moving on from that poorly placed plug...

I think we've all seen the new XBOX, the XBOX 360. Personally, I think that it looks like one of those plastic containers you used to keep your cereal in. The controller looks like Changing Rooms have come in and redesigned it and I actually prefer the old XBOX. I'm loving that the new XBOX has 3 processors - a bloody lot of power. Okay, one of my rants now. The video game market is not just about video games anymore. Nintendo keep true to the game market and only build machines that play games - hence then name 'game console'. The Gameboy (bar the camera and printer attachment for the Gameboy Color), the Nintendo, the Gamecube. All made to specifically play games. From what I know, the next generation console from Nintendo, Nintendo Revolution, will be a competitor for the new XBOX 360, though slightly underpowered. I also know that it will not be playing CD's, DVD's and all that is not a game. The new console will be great, in my opinion, and will be released before the Playstation 3 - something Nintendo regret not doing with the current Playstation console. To round up my point after that detour: I admire Nintendo for sticking to their past and wonder why game consoles are no longer just game consoles; they're DVD players, they're music CD players and they're harddrives.

Apart from that sidetrack, I'm feeling quite good. I'll update soon and if you want to suggest anything for my blog just leave a comment. Or, if you just feel like it, leave a comment anyway :P.

Well, It's done... I think

Well, over the past 2 days or so I've been gathering blogs to swap links with and I've got a few on the right there. Remember, if you want your link on my blog all you have to do is contact me. Anyway, I've been slaving away and trying to makemy blog XHTML 1.0 valid and I've finally suceeded. I'm not even going to think about validating the CSS because this is where Blogger turns to the dark side.

I've made further changes to the layout, as you can see and my blog is now top of the Yahoo! search with a search for:

1) "sunny boy's blog"
2) "eurovision semi final"
3) "sunny boy"

If you can find any other keywords, just leave a comment - much apreciated. Anyway, I'll update again soon with new news, events and jokes about the French.

Uh Oh!

Over the next few days I'm going to attempt to make my blog XHTML 1.0 valid (strict or transitional). Wish me luck as there are about 100 errors I need to consult. Please, do not run the risk of a fatal heart attack by trying to validate this blog.

I've been working on a small side-project called 'DirDetective' for the past couple weekends. It's coming on quite well and I hope to finish it by the end of May. I will be doing some more little things after this to add to my my portfolio - this is the only way, at the moment, I can actually code!

I also welcome the new blogs to my links section. If you want a text link and/or a graphic link, just contact me!

Few Changes

I've made a few changes to my blog by:

1) Adding a non-functional site search to the blog header
2) Splitting the right sidebar up into sections
3) Adding a tracker to my blog to see the *traffic* I get
4) Made it look 'okay' in IE

I am looking for people to put a link to my blog on their websites and/or blogs, and if needed, I would gladly put a link to their site on the right there. Contact me at sunnyboy01235@gmail.com.

Election Result

             Election Results

Well, you already know that Labour, and Tony Blair, has secured a third term as leader of Britain. The Conservatives have made much headway and Howard, it seems, is going to represent the Conservative party at the next election in 5 years. The Liberal Democrats have made significant gains but wanted to get around 80 seats; at the time of writing, they have only 59. The Wantage constituency has remained under Conservative rule. I just hope that Tony Blair will listen to these results and change some of his polocies, such as scrapping tuition fees.

Internet Piracy

Over the next week or two, I'm going to be confronting IRC channel admins from many IRC servers about internet piracy. It's going to be a sort of Watchdog-esque kind of confrontation, also. First, here's a conversation with me and a guy who is an admin of a channel of some emulation software (and I'm sorry for any spelling/grammer mistakes):

Session Start: Sun May 01 20:19:19 2005
Session Ident: alex_extreme
[20:19] <Watchdog> why should there be double standards?
[20:19] <alex_extreme> what do you mean?
[20:19] <Watchdog> us not being allowed to do stuff and you being able to.,
[20:20] <alex_extreme> i'm not doing illegal stuff. i'm just telling somebody a fact that not many illegal copies of OS X work
[20:20] <alex_extreme> that's not illegal talk
[20:20] <Watchdog> No, i mean the Illegal speak.
[20:20] <Watchdog> Plus, do you condone the use if pirated software?
[20:20] <alex_extreme> no, i don't
[20:21] <Watchdog> Then why do you allow it?
[20:21] <alex_extreme> i don't
[20:21] <Watchdog> Why do you allow it to be discussed in your channel? Why do you help people with pirated copies of quality software?
[20:21] <alex_extreme> could you please shut up
[20:22] <alex_extreme> i don't just kick people for mentioning it
[20:22] <alex_extreme> i only kick people if they post links to illegal stuff
[20:22] <Watchdog> I don't say you should. But you said you don't condone it, yet you help people setup and run ILLEGALLY gained software.
[20:23] <alex_extreme> please could you stop arguing with me?
[20:24] <Watchdog> I'm debating with you. I'm not here to spam the channel, and the only way I can debate with you is here.
[20:24] <alex_extreme> i don't wish to debate any more. thanks
[20:24] <Watchdog> You help people who con companies out of their hard work to setup, run and possibly profit for pirated software.
[20:24] <Watchdog> Sorry,
[20:25] <Watchdog> By saying that, you have admitted defeat.
[20:25] <Watchdog> Bye bye.
[20:26] <alex_extreme> that's it... i will not tolerate this. good bye
[20:26] <Watchdog> Tolkerate what?
[20:26] <Watchdog> What am i doing wrong.
[20:26] <Watchdog> Telling the truth?
[20:26] <alex_extreme> you are being rude to me.
[20:26] <Watchdog> In what way, may i ask?
[20:27] <Watchdog> In what way am i being rude to you? If i know, I can't do it again.
[20:28] <Watchdog> By not answering me, you are now being rude.
[20:30] <Watchdog> Excuse me?
[20:30] <alex_extreme> WHAT?
[20:30] <Watchdog> In what way am i being rude to you? If i know, I can't do it again.
[20:31] <Watchdog> You are indirectly related to piracy, you know that?
[20:32] <alex_extreme> will you just shut up!!!!
[20:34] <Watchdog> Not until you answer this question: You don't support piracy, yet you let it go on right under your nose. One of the channel rules is 'NO WAREZ TALK' - yet this it what goes on, sometimes. Why do you let this happen when it contradicts what you have just said?
[20:36] <Watchdog> You're being rude, once again.
[20:36] <Watchdog> Excuse me.
[20:39] <Watchdog> Excuse ME!
[20:40] <Watchdog> Don't ignore me, alex.
[20:40] <Watchdog> Why do you let piracy go on right here?
[20:40] <Watchdog> Why do you let people con companies out of hundreds of a go?
[20:41] <alex_extreme> sorry, but i am ignoring you. because simply you are an immature retard who can't accept that you are guilty of software piracy yourself
[20:42] <alex_extreme> or, that you can't accept the fact that I am slightly nice, unlike you
[20:42] <Watchdog> You make me laugh, you really do. I do not own any pirated software. I am against it.
[20:42] <Watchdog> We're all nice, alex.
[20:42] <Watchdog> But, we can be too nice. Cheating companies out of money is WRONG.
[20:42] <alex_extreme> i don't just kick people for saying they downloaded tiger
[20:43] <Watchdog> As i said earlier, I don't want you to. But helping them to set it up, run it and profit from it is immoral and wrong.
[20:43] <Watchdog> And, let me say, I am not the one name-calling.
[20:43] <Watchdog> So think twice before you call me a retard.
[20:44] <alex_extreme> i didn't do that. i didn't know that he was using a pirated version until he actually said!
[20:45] <Watchdog> Yes, I'm sure he didn't tell you. I mean, having it before it's released isn't a giveaway is it.
[20:46] <alex_extreme> it is f**king released. don't you know anything?
[20:46] <Watchdog> It is released now, yes. Friday, I beleive.
[20:46] <Watchdog> He had it before then.
[20:46] <Watchdog> He came on here with it before then.
[20:46] <alex_extreme> how do you know?
[20:47] <alex_extreme> have you heard of ADC?
[20:47] <alex_extreme> Apple Developer Connection
[20:47] <alex_extreme> i have tiger. i got it from Apple
[20:47] <alex_extreme> before it was released
[20:47] <Watchdog> Did you pay for it?
[20:48] <alex_extreme> yes, because you have to pay for a subscription to ADC
[20:48] <alex_extreme> and, that gives money to Apple
[20:48] <alex_extreme> simple?
[20:48] <Watchdog> And does ****** have an ADC account?
[20:48] <Watchdog> (and what's the subscription cost? )
[20:49] <alex_extreme> $1,999 or something
[20:50] <Watchdog> And does ****** have an ADC account?
[20:51] <Watchdog> NO.
[20:51] <Watchdog> I'm not attacking your status, here, I'm attacking what you let go on.
[20:51] <Watchdog> PIRACY.
[20:52] <Watchdog> You let others leech what you have paid for (if you're telling the truth)
[20:53] <Watchdog> I will leave it at that, for tonight. Thankyou for debating with me.
Session Close: Sun May 01 20:53:40 2005

Session Start: Sun May 01 20:53:46 2005

[20:53] Session Ident:
[20:53] <alex_extreme> and i wont debate again, thanks
[20:53] <alex_extreme> retard
[20:54] <Watchdog> Why? Because I'm right?
[20:54] <Watchdog> I'm not just debating with you, I'm debating with the entire admin lineup.
[20:54] <Watchdog> And, if you have time, pass this arguement onto them.
[20:54] <Watchdog> But you probably won't, and i understand that.
[20:54] <alex_extreme> i have already...
[20:55] <alex_extreme> i told them that you are a retard
[20:55] <alex_extreme> who won't shut up
[20:55] <alex_extreme> and all the rude stuff you say to me
[20:55] <alex_extreme> good bye
[20:55] <Watchdog> What have I said that's rude!
[20:55] <Watchdog> Please tell me.
[20:55] <alex_extreme> calling me a software thief, when it's not true
[20:55] <Watchdog> I never called you that.
[20:56] <Watchdog> Check your logs.
[20:56] <alex_extreme> yes you did
[20:56] <Watchdog> Find it in the logs and show me.
[20:56] <alex_extreme> you know perfectly well that you did
[20:56] <Watchdog> When?
[20:56] <Watchdog> Show me.
[20:57] <Watchdog> No?
[20:57] <Watchdog> I guess I didn't then.
[20:57] <alex_extreme> yes you did
[20:57] <alex_extreme> yes you did
[20:57] <alex_extreme> yes you did
[20:57] <alex_extreme> yes you did
[20:57] <alex_extreme> yes you did
[20:57] <alex_extreme> yes you did
[20:57] <alex_extreme> yes you did
[20:57] <alex_extreme> yes you did
[20:57] <Watchdog> Where?
[20:57] <Watchdog> Where?
[20:57] <Watchdog> Where?
[20:57] <Watchdog> Where?
[20:57] <Watchdog> Where?
[20:57] <Watchdog> Where?
[20:57] <Watchdog> Where?
[20:57] <Watchdog> Where?
[20:57] <Watchdog> Where?
[20:57] <alex_extreme> yes you did
[20:57] <Watchdog> Where?
[20:57] <alex_extreme> yes you did
[20:57] <alex_extreme> yes you did
[20:57] <alex_extreme> yes you did
[20:57] <alex_extreme> yes you did
[20:57] <alex_extreme> yes you did
[20:57] <alex_extreme> yes you did
[20:58] <alex_extreme> yes you did
[20:58] <alex_extreme> yes you did
[20:58] <alex_extreme> yes you did
[20:58] <alex_extreme> yes you did
[20:58] <alex_extreme> yes you did
[20:58] <alex_extreme> yes you did
[20:58] <alex_extreme> yes you did
[20:58] <Watchdog> If you can't find when and where i called you a software theif, then you have no basis for an argument.
[20:58] <alex_extreme> yes you did
[20:58] <alex_extreme> yes you did
[20:58] <alex_extreme> yes you did
[20:58] <Watchdog> And now you're going against your rules of no spamming.
[20:59] <Watchdog> If you don't support an arguement with evidense, you have no argument.
[20:59] <Watchdog> *evidence
[20:59] <alex_extreme> you are talking to nothing, so you might as well shut up
[20:59] <Watchdog> Why do you call yourself a 'nothing' ?
[20:59] <Watchdog> I'm talking to you in a mature and adult manner.
[20:59] <Watchdog> I exspect the same back.
[21:00] <Watchdog> I will leave it at that, save these logs.
[21:01] <Watchdog> I will be back, and under a different name and on a different PC and ISP.
