Opera on Wii

Opera has confirmed that their browser will be the browser that Nintendo Wii users will use to browse the internet. You can view the press release here and Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata’s speech from the E3 media briefing here. Nintendo announced earlier in the year that the Nintendo DS would be getting the Opera browser. I thought this logical as Opera already have experience in mobile version. But Opera on the Wii? I would have preferred a Gecko browser, such as Mozilla Firefox or something based on the Firefox web browser. But, I suppose it doesn’t really matter.

I watched the Nintendo E3 media briefing live via GameTrailers.com and it was great. Although Nintendo have kept some details secret still, such as cost (rumoured to be between $250 – $350) and availability (probably after the Sony PS3 launch in November). But this is all good. If anyone else watched it, the tennis match at the end looked a lot of fun. I like the idea of actually moving yourself to move the character. I better start saving for that £199 pricetag!
