Hi there. As many other people have done over the past 24 hours, I’m writing this post from inside the Beta 2 release of Microsoft Word 2007. That’s right – a Microsoft product is interacting with a non-Microsoft product! I have to say I had my reservations about the new office suite but after using it, I bloody love it. Although in this Beta 2 release not all the programs have the new GUI and still look like the 2000 and 2003 versions with the plan menus at the top.

I’m absolutely loving the user interface for the new programs and find it much easier to use and even more aesthetically pleasing. It’s fabulous and a testament to how much work has gone into it. Love it. The font they’re using for the GUI and the default colour schemes are really nice. I haven’t noticed any difference with speed but have noticed that I open the programs just to look at them. You can work and play at the same time!

New features such as mathematical formulas, ‘SmartArt’ and basically an overhaul of everything to make it easier. I have to say, congratulations Microsoft – just don’t charge too much.

The amount of options you’re given are just amazing. Image editing, resizing and styling is only a few clicks away. Just great. Go and download it now!
